ChatGPT rank tracker
What the ChatGPT rank tracker does
Paste an answer that ChatGPT gave you and this tool reads it for which brands and sources it names, and where each one sits: the lead recommendation, one option among several in a list, or a name mentioned only in passing.
This is a server tool. The pasted answer is sent to our AI server, read once, and the result returns to the page. 5 free checks in any rolling 24 hours, nothing stored afterward.
It's worth being precise about the name: this analyzes a single ChatGPT answer you already have, on demand. It's not a live connection to ChatGPT and it doesn't run checks on a schedule.
The problem
Why this isn't a Google or SEO rank tracker
A search-engine rank tracker checks where a page lands in Google's results for a keyword, on a recurring schedule, using a search API. This tool has none of that machinery and no connection to Google's index at all.
What it checks instead is how a brand fares inside a ChatGPT answer specifically, which matters because ChatGPT increasingly gets asked the exact comparison and recommendation questions people used to type into a search box: best X for Y, top alternatives to Z, which one should I use. Being named in that answer, and how, is a separate thing from ranking for a keyword.
How it works
How to use the ChatGPT rank tracker to check brand rankings in three steps
The answer needs to exist first. Get it from ChatGPT, then bring it here to be read.
- Step 1
- Ask ChatGPT a comparison or recommendation question in your category, and copy the full answer.
- Step 2
- Paste it here and press Analyze. It's sent to our server once and read for brand and source mentions.
- Step 3
- Check where each name lands: first in the list, mid-pack, or an aside, since that position is the real finding.
Why it matters for ChatGPT specifically
Why list position matters so much in ChatGPT answers
ChatGPT frequently answers comparison and recommendation questions as a numbered or bulleted list with a short lead-in, and that structure makes position unusually literal to read: first on the list genuinely reads as the pick, and an entry buried near the bottom genuinely reads as an afterthought, in a way that's easier to spot than in a flowing paragraph.
That makes brand tracking here concrete in a way it isn't for every model: you can point at the exact list slot a brand landed in, and compare that slot against what you'd expect given the brand's actual position in its category. A name missing from the list entirely, when the question sits squarely inside its category, is just as readable a signal as a strong first-place mention.
Why it varies
Why the same question gets a different ChatGPT answer later
ChatGPT's answer to the same question can change from one session to the next: some responses involve randomness in generation, and when it has live browsing enabled it can pull a different set of pages into the answer depending on what's freshest at the time.
Treat any single check as a sample of one answer at one moment, not a fixed statement of how ChatGPT always ranks a category. Running the same question again later, and comparing the two pasted answers, tells you more than either result alone.
Straight answer
Does this track my ChatGPT SEO ranking over time?
No, and it's better to say that outright than let the name suggest otherwise. There's no schedule, no saved history, and no keyword tracked across days or weeks. Each check is a one-time read of the exact text pasted in.
If you want a sense of how a brand fares across several ChatGPT answers, run the check on several separately obtained answers and compare them side by side. That's repeated sampling by hand, not a monitoring service.
Who uses it
Who uses the ChatGPT rank tracker, and when
One check, several different reasons to run it.
- Marketing teams
- Checking how their brand actually reads in a ChatGPT answer to a comparison question a buyer might really ask.
- SEO and content teams
- Treating ChatGPT visibility as a distinct question from Google rank, worth its own separate check.
- Founders
- Running an answer a customer mentioned or screenshotted, out of direct curiosity.
- Product marketers
- Comparing how their product is positioned against named competitors in the same ChatGPT answer.
