Perplexity rank tracker

What the Perplexity rank tracker does

Paste an answer that Perplexity gave you and this tool reads it for which brands and sources it names, and how each is positioned: which claim carries a footnote pointing at it, how many separate claims cite it, and where in the answer it first shows up.

This is a server tool. The pasted answer is sent to our AI server, read once, and the result returns to the page. 5 free checks in any rolling 24 hours, nothing stored afterward.

This reads a single answer you already have, on demand. It has no live connection to Perplexity and runs nothing on a schedule; it analyzes whatever text you paste in, once.

The problem

Why this isn't a Google or SEO rank tracker

A search-engine rank tracker checks a page's position in Google's results for a keyword, usually on a recurring schedule, using a search API. This tool has no connection to any search index at all; it reads text you supply, once.

What it checks instead is a genuinely different question: when Perplexity answers a question and cites its sources, which brands and pages actually get the footnote, and how prominently. That's a distinct thing from search rank, even though Perplexity's own answers are themselves built from search results.

How it works

How to use the Perplexity rank tracker to check citations in three steps

The answer has to already exist, ideally with its footnotes or source list intact.

Step 1
Ask Perplexity a question relevant to your brand or category, and copy the full answer along with its cited sources.
Step 2
Paste it here and press Analyze. It's sent to our server once and read for brand and source mentions.
Step 3
Check which names carry a footnote, how many claims cite each one, and which sources are missing entirely.

Why it matters for Perplexity specifically

Why footnote position is the clearest signal of any model on this list

Perplexity is built around citation as its core mechanic: nearly every factual claim in an answer carries a numbered footnote pointing at a specific source, which makes positioning here more literal and countable than for any other assistant. You can point at exactly which claims cite a given source and how many times.

That structural explicitness is what makes a dedicated Perplexity check worth running separately from a general AI answer check: the footnote itself is the position, not an inferred tone or an implied ranking, which removes a layer of interpretation the other models require and leaves less room for a subjective read.

Why it varies

Why the same question can produce a different set of citations later

Because Perplexity's answers are built from a live search step, the pages it retrieves for an identical question can differ from one moment to the next, which changes which sources get footnoted and how often, sometimes substantially.

Treat any single check as a sample of one answer at one moment, shaped by whatever the underlying search happened to surface right then, not a fixed statement of how Perplexity always cites sources in a category.

Straight answer

Does this track my ranking in Perplexity over time?

No, and it's worth saying plainly rather than letting the name suggest otherwise. There's no schedule, no saved history, and no keyword tracked across days or weeks. Every check is a one-time read of the exact text pasted in.

For a broader sense of how a brand fares across several Perplexity answers, run the check on several separately obtained answers and compare them side by side. That's repeated sampling done by hand, not a monitoring service.

FAQ

Questions about the Perplexity rank tracker

Everything below is answered in full, nothing to click open.

What does the Perplexity rank tracker do?

It reads one Perplexity answer you paste in and reports which brands and sources it cites, and how prominently.

Does it check my Google search ranking?

No. It has no connection to any search index. It only analyzes text you supply from a Perplexity answer.

Does it monitor my brand's Perplexity citations over time?

No. There's no schedule and no stored history. Each check reads the specific answer pasted at that moment.

Is the Perplexity rank tracker free?

Yes. 5 free checks in any rolling 24 hours, no account required.

Is my pasted text uploaded anywhere?

It's sent to our AI server to be analyzed. Nothing is stored afterward.

Where do I get the Perplexity answer to paste in?

Ask Perplexity a relevant question yourself and copy its response with sources shown. This tool doesn't generate or fetch an answer.

Should I include the numbered footnotes when I paste the answer?

Yes. They're the clearest evidence of which source is being credited for which claim.

Will the same pasted answer give the same result each time?

Yes, analyzing identical text is consistent. It's the underlying Perplexity answer that can change if you generate a new one.

Why did Perplexity cite different sources when I asked again later?

Perplexity answers are built from a live search step, and the pages retrieved for an identical question can differ between runs.

Does asking Perplexity the same question twice give the same citations?

Not reliably. Treat each answer as a fresh sample rather than a fixed statement.

What's the character limit per check?

Between 1 and 12,000 characters per check.

Is there a batch mode or an API?

Not yet. One check at a time, up to 5 in any rolling 24 hours.

What happens after I use all 5 checks?

The check pauses until the rolling 24-hour window opens up allowance again.

Can it explain why Perplexity chose a particular source?

No. It reports what's present in the pasted text, not the reasoning behind Perplexity's search or citation choices.

Does it work on non-English Perplexity answers?

It's tuned for English. Other languages may return a less reliable read.

Does it count how many separate claims cite the same source?

Yes. Repeated citations to the same source across an answer are part of what the analysis reports.

Does it flag my competitors too, not just my own brand?

Yes. It reports every brand and source it finds in the answer, not only one you specify.

Does it work on phones?

Yes. The page and the result both work in a phone browser.

Can I compare two competing brands' citation counts with this?

Yes. Paste an answer mentioning both, and comparing how many claims cite each is exactly what the tool is built to surface.

Does it distinguish a heavily cited source from one mentioned once?

Yes. The number of separate claims pointing at each source is part of what the result reports.

Paste a Perplexity answer and see who's footnoted.
