Perplexity space remover
What the Perplexity space remover does
This tool strips every space character out of text copied from a Perplexity answer and returns one unbroken string. Paste the text in, press the button, copy the result. Ordinary spaces, tabs, line breaks and the invisible Unicode spaces that ordinary find-and-replace misses all come out in the same pass.
It runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored, and there is no cap on how much text you clean or how often you come back.
Why it happens
Why Perplexity text can carry a wider mix of spaces than a plain chatbot
Perplexity builds an answer by retrieving and summarising several live web pages, and its own answer text is quoted from, or paraphrased alongside, snippets pulled from those pages. Each source website has its own CMS, its own copy-paste history, and its own habits around non-breaking and Unicode spaces, so a Perplexity answer can inherit a wider variety of space characters than a reply generated purely inside one company's own chat interface.
On top of that, Perplexity's own interface renders the answer as rich text before you copy it, the same rendering step that, across most chat assistants, can substitute a non-breaking space to hold formatting.
How it works
How to remove spaces from Perplexity text in three steps
There is nothing to install and no settings to configure. The whole thing takes a few seconds.
- Step 1
- Copy the answer from Perplexity, with or without its citation markers, and paste it into the box.
- Step 2
- Press Remove spaces. The tool runs instantly, on your own machine.
- Step 3
- Copy the result from the output box on the right.
What comes out
Which space characters get removed
A dedicated space remover beats find-and-replace because the space bar produces one character, U+0020, but a dozen others render as a gap on screen and survive a search for a normal space.
Text assembled from several different websites, as a Perplexity answer effectively is, is a common source of exactly that mixture.
- Regular spaces
- The standard space bar character, U+0020.
- Non-breaking spaces
- U+00A0, common in text carried over from a cited web page's own formatting, or from Perplexity's own rendering.
- Tabs and line breaks
- Tab characters, carriage returns and newlines.
- Unicode spaces
- Thin space, hair space and the rest of U+2000-U+200A.
- Ideographic space
- U+3000, the full-width space used in Chinese, Japanese and Korean text.
Why it matters
What stray spaces in Perplexity text actually break
The failures are hard to diagnose because the text looks right. A term or a figure copied from a Perplexity answer into a spreadsheet fails to match an identical-looking value, because a non-breaking space carried over from a cited page sits where an ordinary space belongs.
A slug built from a Perplexity-drafted heading resolves to a different address than intended, and a citation key or reference ID pasted into a bibliography manager can silently fail to match for the same reason.
In practice
Who uses the Perplexity space remover, and when
Researchers building a citation key or a reference identifier out of a Perplexity answer use it before pasting into a bibliography manager, so a stray non-breaking space doesn't silently break a lookup.
Developers pulling an identifier or a sample value out of Perplexity's output use it before pasting into code, and anyone building slugs or filenames from Perplexity-drafted headings uses it because those fields reject spaces outright.
